Submitting a Request for a Crafting Quest

Categories of Crafting

  • Artisanal Goods - Honey, Oils, Jams, Fine Art, etc
  • Architecture - building houses, sheds, furniture, etc
  • Weapons - Swords, Daggers, Knives, etc
  • Armor - Wearable armor of any type
  • Potions - Consumable items that may give skill or magic bonuses or be used for medicinal purposes
  • Alchemy - most difficult category to craft for and must follow these rules:
  • There must be an equivalent exchange or the crafter will suffer a significant penalty. You cannot use a flower to create a skull for example
  • You cannot create something from nothing, alchemy requires ingredients just the same that other crafting categories do.
  • This is a way to “craft” items needed for other crafting goals. Think of it as a miscellaneous category of crafting.
  • This category must be used for some other categories depending on how rare the item is deemed or how many steps in the crafting process there are. Think of how you might need to smelt iron to craft a sword as one example.

How to make a request

  • Please make sure you fill out the form and provide as much detail as possible about what item you want your character to craft.
  • Characters will be required to gather the materials prior to attempting a crafting check roll
  • Please allow staff to respond to your request with a prompt before you start posting for this quest. Posts made about the quest before a prompt is given by staff will not be valid.
  • Players may reject quest prompts, but in doing so you then have a cooldown period of 1 week before you may request a quest from that same category for your character.

How to gain items for crafting:

  • Gaining an item uses the questing system. The only difference is that you fill out the template and post it on the crafting board instead. A staff member will then give you the prompt to go find the item you need for your crafting category. You wouldn’t find a seashell on a mountain for example.

How to craft items:

Once your character has gathered the necessary ingredients for crafting based on the category and end reward/item you’re wanting to craft, make a post attempting to craft your item. The crafting manager or a staff member will then roll for the chance of success when crafting. This will use a skill check bonus so be sure to include the skill you’re using in your post for crafting. The roll will be made with a percentile dice, where anything over 60% is a success. (this maybe subject to change depending on how this system scales with the rest of the game)

If your crafting roll is successful, staff will also roll a quality check to determine the value of the item.

What can I do with crafted items:

You may gift the crafted item to another character, or use it in battle (armor or weapons will give you an additional bonus to your damage rolls. You may also “sell” the item to the store to earn in-game currency. The higher the quality of your crafted item, the more you’ll earn for in-game currency.

Can I craft special store items such as the companion token?

At this time, no we would like to keep some parts of the store as unique as possible.

What can I do with the wealth my character has earned on Avestral?

You can purchase homes/land, hire henchmen, etc. Whatever you can imagine or dream up staff will help you craft the world your character lives in.
