It started as a tether, a voice in the back of her mind, guiding Rennah blindly into chaos. The voice became something of a comfort, a stepping stone towards a larger greatness that it promised she was destined for. Queen Ravencrest was so driven by a need for more power and her hunger for lune that she slowly lost the ability to tell what was real and what wasn’t. What thoughts were her own, and which ones were not? Did it matter? Rennah didn’t know; she didn’t care. At first, she only shared that power with her knights, the closest confidantes and soldiers who had devoted their immortality to stand by her side forevermore. But that need to conquer everything boiled up from somewhere deep down, and soon Rennah began to force the courtiers Under The Mountain to siphon its power, too. It was a trap, one that forced their addiction to lune as well as forcing their loyalty to their queen. It was merely a taste of the power they could have if they followed her with unwavering devotion. While the queen’s army prepares for war, she has sent her knights out on specific missions—to find someone powerful enough to forge weapons and siphons out of lune—and to find mercenaries, especially those from Novos, to join their cause. No one expected that one day the sky would darken as though a storm was on the horizon, devouring the sky until it was filled with heavy, black clouds, a red lightning streaking through the sky. No one knew that the queen had been hidden away in her Nightmare Court, honing her power, feeding on the power of lune and building her army. When she stepped out of her court beneath the mountain, Rennah's first stop was to the Spring Court, to witness her craft with the shroud. Its umbral walls were like a dense, black barrier. But when she raised her hands, the shroud shifted and moved with her. When she brought her hands together in a loud clap, the walls of the shroud rippled and parted slightly. Rennah grinned wickedly, and then when she brought her hands up, the shroud shifted and spread, rising up to fill the sky with darkness that blocked out the late afternoon sun until the world around them was caught in a state of near twilight.
